Computer LIFE

Down the Rabbit Hole, security and practices for your online life.

Achieving good Cyber-Security can seem like a daunting task. Fortunately, you can learn how to protect you and your personal information.  Ely Community Ed is offering, Computer LIFE, a series of evening classes that will help you learn how to best protect yourself from cyber threats. Computer Security, an important class for any internet user or small business owner, will meet from Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:30 p.m.   These classes are structured to be a series of lectures to help you decide on if you are safe in your daily online activities.  NO politics, this will be to get you the information to make an  INFORMED decision about your Instant Messenger, Online Friends and etc. Mike Hall / Aurora IT Consulting.

Mike Hall comments that “ What I hear everywhere is that people are concerned about what they share on the internet.  But, what I don’t see is  accurate information on personal security. How do you know if an email is safe to open? Is my online life safe from hackers? What even is a hacker? I can  answer these questions for the people who are interested.”Depending on popularity and request further classes subjects will be expanded.

Register for as few or as many as you want! $10 a class .

#Class 1 – Instant messaging: Are you talking to the person you think you are and who is listening?

#Class 2 – Email: Is it really secure like it says in your browser or email client? What can I click on, and what will get me into trouble?

#Class 3 – Searching online: Do I really want or care about advertisers knowing *everything* about me or can I leave less of myself online?
