This class works on improving your dog’s response to commands, moving the dog and handler to the next level of skill and understanding. In this class, you will reinforce learned commands and learn new commands. Socializing and controlling your dog while distracted, voice commands, off leash and other training will be addressed. Off lead work is introduced for dogs that are ready. This is a structured class that builds teamwork between the dog and the handler. This class follows Beginning but it is also an excellent class for the dog and handler that have been away from training and need to brush up on their skills.
Dogs must be six months or older or have instructor approval. Dog handlers must be at least 12 years old, no exceptions. Bring proof of vaccination to first class. Dogs must be vaccinated against rabies and parvo

Paula Mckenzie has spent a good portion of her life working with dogs. She has acquired a vast amount of experience in all aspects of ‘a dog’s life’, from years of hands on work with dogs of all sizes, shapes and breeds. In addition to teaching Ely Community Education Dog Obedience Classes, she trains and works with certified therapy dogs, and helps teach reading skills through the Reading to Rover Program. She trains and works with certified therapy dogs, helping children learn how to read through the Reading to Rover program.She breeds English Labs and Brittany spaniels, trains dogs in everything from basic dog obedience to agility training and hunting. She has participated in dog shows and has several Champions. She owns Kramer Kennel providing grooming and overnight. She lives and works out of Kramer Bay in Babbitt Minnesota.
